About Brett Rush

brett

I would like to say I am a simple, easy going guy but that just seems boring to me.

My Work ::

I have extensive experience on eBay as a buyer, seller, supporter and teacher. Personally, I have sold over 10,000 consigned items on eBay, Amazon, Craigslist and Etsy from antiques to dolls and pallets of “Lost DVD Series” to a Cadillac Escalade owned by someone who played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

While learning about all of the working mechanisms to building, running and maintaining a web-based software, I’ve obtained the skills of Product Management, Project Management, Simplifying Support, Marketing Management and Business Developing. For more information, see iam.brettrush.com

My History ::

In 2000, a group of us started the Tampa Bay Dream Center where we worked in the inner city of Tampa doing weekly block parties, renovating section 8 apartments, tutoring students and running large scale mission trips to Tampa, Belize and Mexico. Donations grew slim and unfortunately the Tampa Bay Dream Center had to close its doors in 2006.

When Marlyse and I moved to New York in 2011, we have been working closely with the New York Dream Center to help students and families in East Harlem and Chelsea housing.

My Love ::

I have been married to the beautiful Marlyse since 2003 that I met in the Dream Center and currently we have 2 furry kids otherwise known as pups. Ellie and Rhino. We enjoy our time in New York City and frequently write about our experiences. That has pretty much what my blog has been about since 2011.

Who I Am ::

I have rappelled down Ecuadorian waterfalls, stood in front of the Coliseum in Rome, snorkeled the Great Barrier Reef and experienced real Chinese food in Guangzhou. I am an Eagle Scout that has spent more than a year in a tent total. I played soccer for ten years.

I worked with an inner-city ministry in Tampa for six years rebuilding houses to help rebuild lives. That turned into doing construction in Belize and Mexico as well as visiting orphanages and connecting with teens in a completely different atmosphere. I have helped organize and run golf tournaments, concerts and mission trips with four hundred students while renting an entire school to house them all. Now my wife and I are helping recreate this in New York City.

I used to DJ techno, trance and breakbeats all across Florida. I play 12-string acoustic guitar, 5-string bass guitar and I dabble on my 120-key accordion. I want to learn the cello next.

I love playing racquetball but my hand-eye coordination prevents me from being stellar. I enjoy going mountain biking but my balance to gravity ratio usually leans towards gravity and the ground reminds me how close it is to my face.

I can solve a Rubik’s Cube on average in one minute, three seconds. I have an advantage when playing Blackjack. I have owned a print broker business and a band branding business.

One goal that my wife and I share is the desire to visit all seven continents. Currently, we have been to five of them together.

I always do my own taxes but I always think I could be receiving more money back if I had someone else do them for me. If I do not know the answer to a question, I Google it. If an appliance is broken, I Google how to fix it.

I have made decisions that increased revenue substantially for the company I work for and the business has altered directions due to input I have given. I love living life and giving back to the community.
